As of recent I have been quite the creature of comfort when it comes to the makeup products I use on the daily. I mean if it works and it isn’t broken, why fix it, right? For a while there I didn’t even wear eyeshadow for months! I think I just lost passion in it and became too lazy to want to do my eyeshadow – ugh #hoodedeyeproblems. However I’ve had many of you ask me what products have been giving my face the glow it currently has this summer, so I thought I would share a few posts with you. Starting with the makeup edition and following up with skincare….
By Terry Cellularose Brightening CC Serum – Sunny Flash | £61 – Link / $90 – Link
If you’re like me and you find your body tans beautifully, yet your face remains looking as pale as Michael Jackson (after the skin lightening btw) you know you have to cheat that tan lol. What you need is a bottle of this By Terry Magic. Not just your typical skin beneficial serum, this gives the skin the most beautiful beach-goddess glow. Taking you from Casper to J-Lo in under a minute. Pricey but a little goes a long way and it’s worth every penny.
*Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation Serum – Medium | £45 – Link
I waited impatiently all year for the moment my pasty self, caught enough sun to be able to wear this little gem. Goodbye NC25, Hello NC30. Oh, the difference a little sun can make. This little beauty is everything I wanted the Armani Maestro to be (which broke apart so badly on my face and made me look like a grease ball) – it was not a pretty site. Every time I wear this my skin looks flawless and airbrushed, yet completely natural! It is completely undetectable on the skin, yet evens out my complexion beautifully! I don’t know what magic is in this, but I’m loving it. It doesn’t make me greasy either or break-out, staying put come rain or shine. I absolutely adore it.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – Light/Medium | £28 – Link / $25 – Link
I was not a fan of this at first, but once I heard the devastating news about Nars (RIP Creamy Concealer), I decided to give it another go. Boy-oh-boy am I glad I did! A little goes a very long way and I cannot help but think this concealer is the love child of the Nars concealer and the Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer. Full coverage and creamy, its fantastic for dark circles and blemishes. However, I do find this can look a little too heavy and drying under the eyes if I’m at all dehydrated. So applying a little bit of the *DHC Eye Bright and an oil like this really helps reduce the dryness and helps a little with creasing.
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder | £20 – Link / $26 – Link
Oh, how I wish Laura Mercier was cruelty-free (though it does seem to appear in a grey area) because I struggle to find a good under eye setting powder. Many have failed me over the years, however the LM Secret Brightening powder has remained a firm reliable staple. It’s incredibly finely milled and lightweight with teeny micro shimmers that help to brighten up the under-eye, which this tired mommy needs! I apply the tiniest amount on the end of this brush and my under eyes look instantly brighter. I am on the look out for a cruelty free under eye setting powder that won’t make my eyes look crepey and have better ingredients than the LM. I just purchased this and this which I have yet to test out, and I have this powder and this currently on my wishlist. If you have any under eye setting powder suggestions I would love to know.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer – Diffused Bronze Light | £45 – Link / $50 – Link
I am quite the floozy when it comes to my bronzers, but there is one bronzer who has shone brighter than all the rest! The Hourglass Diffused Bronze Light bronzer is much more red-toned than i am used to, it mimics that slight sun-burnt tan you get after lying on the beach all day. I feel like I have Chrissy Teigan cheekbones every time I wear this, along with Melissa McCarthy’s chin – and I’m not throwing shade btw, just stating I dislike the extra chinnage I have going on atm lol. For some reason, I just feel incredible every time I wear this and I always receive so many compliments every time I wear it.
Natasha Denona All Over Face & Body Shimmer Powder – 01 Light | $38 – Link
I like that this is very subtle and not overpowering – unlike the current highlighter craze today. It’s the perfect everyday staple and just gives my skin this beautiful healthy glow. The texture is finely milled and I find applying this with a synthetic brush like this one really helps it to apply better. When I have wanted to amp up my highlight a little I apply a little bit of the Laura Geller Gilded Honey highlighter over top, because sometimes we have that random day when we copy one of those beauty youtubers who over do it lol.
Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow – 07 Golden Beige | £6.90 – Link / $12 – Link
This is the most convenient eyeshadow ever! It’s creamy yet dries fast, lasts all day and doesn’t crease at all! I follow up by pressing a little of this Kiko Eyeshadow over top to set it, then I line my lash line with the Tarte Purple Garnet Eye Pencil and highlight the inner corner of my eye with the Innisfree Gel Liner in #2 Pink Beige. The result is fresh, wide-awake, youthful looking eyes.
Hemish Dailism Smudestop Mascara | $11.77 – Link
This is still my Holy Grail mascara! I tried to dabble about with this Holika Holika one, the Lily Lolo one and even the *Lancome Monsieur Big mascara that I was sent (not cruelty free), but not a single one compares. It seems that every single mascara either flakes or transfers on me, but not this beauty. The brush grips onto every single hair and distributes the product evenly. It can only be described as a dream come true for anyone who loves long lengthened, curled eyelashes.
Anastasia Brow Powder Duo – Ebony | £17 – Link / $23 – Link
I have been a bit weird recently and have been doing my brows last!!! I know right!? I am still obsessed with the same eyebrow duo. I test out so many other brands brow pencils but always come back to the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil or the Anastasia Brow Wiz. I then follow up with the Anastasia brow powder using the darker ashy shade on the arch and tail, and the lighter (warmer) shade throughout the rest of my brow. My brows look neat, shapely and best of all natural.
Labelle Liquid Lipstick – Nude | £11.99
A beautiful creamy medium-beige nude with a slight salmon undertone. It’s the most universally flattering nude shade, mixing together beige, pink and peach together to create a nude that won’t wash you out. I received a fair few messages asking about the lipstick I was wearing on my girls night out, and I am happy to say that it was this beauty. I love the texture, its creamy but not too thick, sticky but not overly sticky and it wears for hours without drying my lips out or enhancing lines. I don’t use a lip liner underneath either as it doesn’t bleed!!!! By far one of my favourite lipstick formulations, but sadly they no longer stock the shade nude. However the shade Brownie looks like it might be a shade I will like. I really hope they consider restocking the nude shade and this formulation again, as I am so over the whole matte lip thing and am now just waiting for the rest of the world to join me.
